We’re partnering with New American Leaders to bring together three New American elected officials to talk about debunking the “electability” myth and their experience running and representing unlikely constituencies. We’ll also hear how New American Leaders is leading the charge to recruit and elect new Americans at every level of the ballot!

Featuring:
– City Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López, a social worker by trade who made history by becoming the first Latina elected to the Detroit City Council in November 2013;
– City Councilor Safiya Khalid the youngest, and first Somali American to be elected to Lewiston, ME city council and a community organizer at heart; and
– Georgia State Representative Bee Nguyen, daughter of Vietnamese refugees and key leader in the fight against Georgia’s restrictive voting rights laws who is now running for Georgia Secretary of State.
